In 1835 the foreign visitor to the US, th French writer Alexis de Tocqueville, marveled at the prosperity, opportunity, and human vales he found here. He is often quoted as having said, " America is great because it is good. If America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." How can we make sure that we never lose site of this!

Well, we don't have a communist government, adn we have freedom...so we don't really have a whole lot to worry about!

ReplyDeletethe greatness of america lies in the diversity of the country the orignality of each indiviual person we need to stop striving to be "normal" or average there is really no use of freedomof speech if everyon has the same thing to say
ReplyDeleteI think people need to realize how great of a country we have. It seems that you can always find people from America complaining about this or that. If you ask someone from another country though they wouldn't be able to imagine living in such a great place. As Americans it seems like we are always wanting more when people in other places just hope to stay the way they are or not loose the little they have.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is a great country in the sense that its residents are free, but when people start taking advantage of that and start to become in trouble with the law, that's when I think we as the people of America can step it up and take responsibility for what's right and continue to keep America great. I hope in the future that America keeps enforcing the laws to keep America truly great.
ReplyDeletewell we have an amazing country...we have freedom to do basically whatever we want...with some laws...like dont murder and huge things like that.....we need to treat the country like its a great country...people are always complaining about the government (including myself) but if we seriously think they are that bad then why arn't we trying to become part of the govbernment and fix things so everyone is happy and safe...then you'll know why the leaders of this great country have to disappoint people sometimes...not everyone can be happy
ReplyDeleteI srongly agree with Ashley...America is a awesome country to live in! You just have to follow the laws...and yes some of leaders of this country in the past have made some stupid desicions but they were only trying to think about our country and eveyone in it.

ReplyDeleteWell i think you should not say your country is great. there could become a problem between the countries as an argument over it. I would just accept the country as it is. i agree with hunter a 100%.

ReplyDeleteI think that we need to work on making sure that our justice system stays intact and try to reduce the amount of crime in the US. There are lots of problems with racism and other factors and there are many ways we can improve the country. I feel that America is unsafe in many places but you have to be able to know where you are and find ways to improve your life. I think if everyone makes an effort we can keep America great.
ReplyDeletewe try hard to keep many of the things hear like freedom in tackt with our military that helps us keep all of these fredoms that we have and freedom is not free to the cost think about all of the lifes that are lost in the proces of keeping freedom for the rest of us. he may have felt that he had alot of oportunity after all america is called "the land of oportunity." where we have many free things like press. we still use that in the wrong way today. like

ReplyDeleteWe do have a great nation and a strong government. Even now when we are in an economic depression we are still one of the top naitons in the world. I do agree with steven on that many poeple have lost their lives for our freedom. But if they havn't dont that for us we wouldn't be able to enjoy all of the great things we enjoy now. I think that the U.S. will almost allways be strong.
ReplyDeletei agree with chris in that there is not very many americans sneaking over the borders to be in Mexico home of violence. if were werent still great then the mexicans wouldnt be trying to get into the US with some consequences of being exiled or killed. i think that the US is still great.
ReplyDeletewe have all that we wont as long as it stays within the reach of our laws. we have a great nation and with great rulers like Obama who plans to change so much that hopefully it stays like it is and we get out of our economic crisis. we need some new plans to help us get out of that at least so we can have things like they used to be. we need to have the price of gas go down at least like what we used to have it as. it has really effected the way we drive and how much we have to in order to go to work with the curent economic crisis.
